A 100% natural entertainment program on Sunday, April 7

In continuation of the “Le temps de l’arbre” festival and as part of the “Spring of Nature”, the city of Quimper organizes the third editionH “Children and Trees” edition. Concept: Celebrating last year’s births and adoptions each year through tree planting, activities for young children and parenting actions.

The event takes place on Sunday, April 7, from 10 am to 12 noon, at the Quinquis School, in partnership with the Forest School Association Autour du feu.

To continue raising awareness of biodiversity, connection with living beings, educating citizenship, and awakening curiosity and awareness, the city wants to symbolically link tree planting at the beginning of 2023 with births (or adoptions).

The landmark event is planned for Sunday 7 April, from 10am, around a tree farm on the Forest Park site, near Quinques School in Quimper.

Detailed program for Sunday, April 7

  • Sensory workshops on the topic of taste and food
    From 0 to 3 years
In young children, the child explores the world around him primarily through the hand and mouth. Handling earth, stones, plants, fruits and vegetables with his hands, which he often brings to his mouth, is an opportunity to discover and experience contrasting sensations, to feel textures. Come with early childhood professionals to prepare spring soup with garden treasures as a family, put your hands in the ground to discover vegetables and taste fruits and aromatic plants. A cocoon area will be provided for younger children.
  • Forest School workshops for the enjoyment of little explorers
    From 0 to 4 years
The Autour du Feu association offers different spaces designed around sensibility, imagination, creativity and of course… nature.
    – “Slush Kitchen” area: water, dirt, and old utensils, the recipe for happiness.
    – “Reading for kids and adults” area: books to enjoy alone or with others.
    – Children’s area (for non-walkers): invites sensory exploration of the natural world.
    – “Creativity” space: a small nature craft that can be shared as a parent-child duo.
    – Fire cooking area: so gourmets can get their hands dirty with the kind and thoughtful support of one of nature’s educators. Make small flatbreads and herbal tea.

You will be taken on a free exploration of these spaces by the team of the Forest Autour du Feu school.

  • For older children (4 years and above)
The Quimmer Bretagne Ouest Common Catering team provides a platform for tasting homemade juices and cakes with original recipes made from mystery foods.
  • For the pleasure of your ears
The Domino Children’s Choir from the Quimper Conservatory performs a nature-themed music programme, including songs from Le Vieux Poirier by Michel Bernard.
  • For food lovers
A sweet crepe stand is available on site for dining. The initiative is supported by the Quimper Force T Association, and funds are donated to Telethon. Come and enjoy crepes with your family offered by Quimper.
  • For the curious
Come and observe objects being made with a wood turner or making wooden pencils. Wooden birdhouses will also be on display and offered for sale to benefit Telethon.
  • A collective planting ceremony for and with children
This event is held every year to celebrate the arrival of babies from the previous year (about 600 births each year in Quimper).
Without attaching a tree to a child individually, tree planting takes place in the presence of the parents in the form of a friendly group gathering to celebrate parenthood and the bond between generations. It also gives them the opportunity to introduce them to the various activities of the Childhood Center during a process that celebrates life in the service of education, greening and culture.
