“Digital accessibility tools shouldn’t be gimmicks.”

Are community websites accessible to everyone?

Never. The Federation of the Blind shows in its study that only 80 of the 2,272 monitored sites (3.52%) comply with their display obligations: 18.75% of regions, 6.12% of departments, 0.94% of intermunicipal entities and 0.57% of cities .

In my opinion, there are two reasons: on the one hand, culturally we have a medical rather than a social view of disability; and on the other hand, there is no real support for communities from the state, with a common platform for creating your own website, free software and fairly simple things. The Disability Act was passed in 2005: obviously no one says they don’t like people with disabilities. And if no one wants to do bad, then no one wants to do good… But…
