UNRWA mourns the 171 staff killed in the Israeli war in Gaza

AA / Gaza / Mustafa Haboush

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has lamented the 171 workers killed during Israel’s ongoing war in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

UNRWA stated in the report that “as of March 25, the total number of UNRWA colleagues killed since the start of hostilities in Gaza has reached 171 colleagues.”

During Israel’s war against the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military targeted a number of UNRWA facilities in different areas of the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was a food aid distribution center that was targeted on March 14 last March in the Nuseirat camp, in the center of the Gaza Strip , where the death toll showed 8 deaths.

The United Nations Population Fund announced on Thursday that Israel has blocked UNRWA from providing aid to the Palestinians.

The UN fund said in a statement about the food convoys.

In violation of international law, Israel is restricting humanitarian access to Gaza, including by land, causing shortages of food, medicine and fuel. The famine that has taken hold in the Palestinian enclave has cost the lives of children and the elderly in the Gaza Strip, where some 2.3 million Palestinians have been living under siege for 17 years and living in disastrous conditions.

Israel has been waging a devastating war in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has caused tens of thousands of civilian casualties, mostly children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster and destruction of massive infrastructure, which led Tel Aviv to appear before the International Court of Justice on charges of for “genocide”.
