We’ve been hearing about the PS5 Pro for months now, with more and more credible leaks popping up. According to a new report, the company is now asking developers make sure their games are optimized for the updated PS5 Pro model. which is expected to arrive later this year.

The Verge has confirmed details that were first leaked in March, revealing the specs for an iterative PS5 hardware update codenamed “Trinity.” Sony has reportedly begun informing game makers that they need to work on Prepare your games to take advantage of the increased performance provided by PS5 Pro hardware and software improvements.

It looks like one of the keys is to take advantage of the new console’s ray tracing capabilities. According to the report, Sony wants its partners to specifically optimize ray tracing performance so that games that want to carry the “Trinity Enhanced” badge can have significant visual improvements thanks to the ray tracing capabilities of the upgraded PS5 Pro GPU.

Other leaked PS5 Pro specs include: CPU mode is approximately 10% faster, GPU with more compute units for faster renderingand a new machine learning upsampling feature similar to Nvidia’s DLSS called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). The latter could significantly improve the performance of the most demanding games.

While Sony naturally remains very cautious about new hardware developments, the fact that it has invited developers to start optimizing the Pro suggests that the console’s arrival is fast approaching.
