Three associations, the Association of Palestinians of France, Justice and Rights Without Borders and the March 30 Movement, filed a complaint with the Paris prosecutor’s office for war crimes of “acts of torture” in the context of the “genocidal military attack” on Franco-Israeli soldier, France Inter learned from its lawyer in Wednesday April 17th.
The associations particularly condemn the video posted on social networks at the end of February by a soldier’s relative, which shows Palestinian prisoners. This video shows a prisoner in a white jumpsuit with his wrists tied behind his back. The soldier on the set comments on the pictures:They tortured him to talk. Did you see his back?” In the second sequence, where we see the detainees sitting on the ground blindfolded, the soldier continues: “Shut up bitches, you were lucky on the 7th of October, you sons of bitches.”
The associations hope to open an investigation
With this complaint, which was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, the associations hope that the French judiciary will launch an investigation. That’s what their lawyer Gilles Devers thinks “There is enough evidence to file a complaint” and desire “to know if this Frenchman, who is in an Israeli uniform, did not commit crimes of torture, as a perpetrator or accomplice, or crimes of abuse”. He believes that a “unresponsiveness” from the prosecution “would be a serious problem”. “Can France tolerate French involvement and the allegation of torture without conducting a thorough investigation?” he asks himself.
