Mazame: when the gardens of Kormul-Ule reveal their secrets

The most important
Construction work continues in the Kormul-Ules gardens. The latest operation revealed one of the remains, the base of which was cleared. Stone vessel keeping watch.

It was a real challenge that the volunteers of the Mazame-Patrimoine association took on when they began to bring the Kormul-Ules gardens back to life. But the task of saving and restoring what can still be restored is beginning to bear fruit.

During the interventions, curious and unusual traces appear again. They will be worth looking out for in the future so that walkers heading towards the footbridge can fully appreciate this amazing evidence of the rich past of this corner of the Black Mountain.

In the latest project, well supported by the Toulouse association Kaminarem, gardeners-cleaners-builders have created a structure that can be described as a “belvedere” when viewed from above, but which appears to be made of stone from the base. vessel overlooking the Arnett Valley.

Philippe Kals, “the Occitan volunteer poet,” describes it as follows: “Situated on a rocky mass resembling a wave, bristling with stone edges like cannons from another era, this “ghost ship” gives the impression of a lost Wagnerian legend. on the slopes of Saint-Sauveur. It is worth taking a detour to discover it through its curious horseshoe-shaped structure, which it dominates in all its grandeur.”

And soon the curious, approaching the pedestrian bridge, will be able to discover a small “green theater”, which is now being restored by masons clearing the land. The work to restore the gardens is of course significant, but this amazing space gives this section of the mountain a unique charm.

The volunteers of Mazamet Patrimoine, assisted by the mayor’s office of Mazamet, invite you to join them a few Tuesdays a month so that this laudable enterprise can still offer other wonderful surprises. A group of Haute-Garonne residents come every year to lend a helping hand. But other “brassier” volunteers will be happy to continue this colossal work covering part of the history of Mazame.
