The Olympic Games in Paris 2024 is fast approaching. Less than 100 days before the opening ceremony scheduled for Friday 26 July 2024, Olympic flame was lit in Olympia, Greece, on April 16. She will enter Morbihan THE Thursday 6 June 2024.

After a ten-day journey in Greece, the Olympic flame will arrive in Marseille on May 8, 2024. Before reaching Paris, it will travel across France. Morbihan will be the 26the leg of this 68-day journey. “I am very happy that the department is accepting the flame. The Olympic flame will travel 22 km in Morbihan

During the day of June 6, the Olympic flame will be visible in Morbihan. A main convoy will pass through the municipalities in Lorient, Pontivy, Josselin and Vannes, where the cauldron lighting ceremony is scheduled at the end of the day. The secondary convoy, with a lighter unit, “will visit three iconic locations in the department”, viz Rochefort-en-Terre, Ile aux Moines and Sainte-Anne-d’Auray.

This traveling event will take the form of a running relay (4 km/ten average) over a segment of a few kilometers with a change of carriers every 200 m.

According to David Lappartient, “the choice was not easy” when it came time to select the municipalities crossed by the Olympic flame. “There is so much joy to show,” he added. During the day in Morbihan, the Olympic flame “will travel 22 km and will be carried by around a hundred bearers”, says Karine Bellec, 1D vice-president of the branch council.

Seven weeks before an “exceptional and unique day in the life”, the route of the Olympic flame in the various cities it crosses has been revealed. Here are the crossing times:

  • Lorient: from 8:25 to 9:51
  • Saint-Anne-d’Auray: from 10:05 to 10:25
  • Pontivy: from 11:24 to 12:18.
  • Rochefort-en-Terre: from 12:35 to 12:55
  • Josselin: from 14.57 to 15.41.
  • Ile-aux-Moines: from 17.00 to 17.55
  • Vannes: from 17.51 ​​to 19.20.

As specified by 1D vice president, “when convoys go from one city to another, they are in transfer mode. It is therefore not useful to stand on the side of the road between two towns you are passing through. »

The passage of the Olympic flame through Morbihan, one of the most sporting departments in France, will mark the end of several months of preparatory work. “There is a strong mobilization of all the cities”, according to Karine Bellec.
