Clémence Calvin gives up the marathon and will compete in the 10,000 mi in France

“The Games are not a dream, they are a goal”Clémence Calvin told us at the beginning of January, when she had just returned to the competition after almost four years of suspension for “withdrawal from an anti-doping control” in 2019 in Marrakech (Morocco). At the time, the European marathon vice-champion planned to go back to 42.195km with a view to the Paris Olympics.

Return to the track and 10,000m

But after a fall shortly before the finish of the Spanish marathon, Calvin was hit in the knee and had to cut training for several days, too long to try his luck in Hamburg (Germany) this Sunday.

Currently training at Font-Romeu, the Frenchwoman has finally decided to branch out onto the track, where she shone at the start of her career, most notably with a silver medal in 2014 in the 10,000m. And it is over this distance that she will normally line up during the French 10,000m championships, next May 4 in Pacé (Ille-et-Vilaine), as partner Samir Dahmani confirmed to us. Considering the EC in Rome (7-12 June) over the distance.
