Today is Honor’s launch day. The Chinese manufacturer will present a new mid-range smartphone on April 25. Its Honor 200 Lite will be available for pre-order from 5 pm on the brand’s official website.

Honor has updated the product description of Honor 200 Lite, adding all its features and even the price! We can say that this is indeed officialization ahead of time.

How much does Honor 200 Lite cost?

The price of Honor 200 Lite in France is 329.90 euros. At this price it competes with the Honor 70, whose price has dropped to 349.90 euros. There is also Honor 90 Lite, but it is completely outdated if you compare their technical characteristics.

As a pre-order bonus, Honor is offering a free pair of Earbuds X5, as well as the Honor Band 9 and a €30 discount. In addition, Honor 200 Lite costs only 299.90 euros.

While Honor has released photos of its Honor 200 Lite, it has not released any information about its specifications. According to information coming from the Middle East, an adaptation of the Honor X50i+, a model released in China in November last year, has been proposed.

And the technical specifications are the same. In fact, these are the same device, but with one difference. For the European market, Honor uses a different rear photo module. The circular design on the Honor X50i+ is almost reminiscent of OnePlus. The Honor 200 Lite has a more traditional rectangular design that reminds me a lot of the 2022 Redmi Note 11.

Three sensors (and only one useful?)

There are three sensors inside: a wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle, also used for depth of field, and a macro sensor. On paper and after playing with the new Galaxy A 2024, I’m interested in the results of the 108 MP main sensor with its large aperture.

I’m more cautious about ultra wide angle lenses, in this price range they are never very good. As for macro, it is almost a running plug, a sensor that all manufacturers integrate by default into their mid-range models and which too often turns out to be useless.

In short, here are the photo configuration details of this Honor 200 Lite:

  • 108 MP, wide-angle (f/1.75)
  • 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2)
  • Macro 2 MP (f/2.4)

So not optical zoom, but 10x digital zoom. Honor indicates the modes of using her photo: “Photo, Video, Portrait, Night, Aperture, Multi-Video, Pro, Slow Motion, Panorama, HDR, Time Lapse, Watermark, Super Macro, High Definition, History, Document Scanning, Smile Capture, etc.”

The video supports shooting video up to 1080p, without details.

At the front, there’s a 50-megapixel (f/2.1) sensor housed in a tablet that you’d think was lifted straight from the iPhone. What’s more, Honor points out that it’s compatible with Magic Capsule, a proprietary process that allows you to animate the outline of that black area… just like Apple.

The thinnest and lightest in its category.

We could already recognize the rest of the design from photographs published by Honor. It’s quite pleasing to the eye, close to what the Galaxy A35, which plays in the same league, has to offer. The edges are rounded at the corners, but flat. Large screen with a black corner that appears small. It doesn’t reinvent anything, but it does enough to get the job done well to score points for design in this price range.

Honor captioned her interaction with ” Unique, lightweight, thin and ultra-durable design”. When it comes to reliability, you’ll have to take the word for the 5-star SGS certification that Honor highlights. As for the dimensions, the technical data sheet speaks for itself: 166 grams and a thickness of 6.78 mm. It is better than all competitors Galaxy A35, Nothing Phone (2a), Honor 70 and Honor 90 Lite. And its other ratings are also good enough to give us a very good first impression in terms of design.

Large Amoled screen.

In terms of display, Honor uses a 6.7-inch Amoled panel. The 20.1:9 aspect ratio displays the image in Full HD+. The refresh rate is not specified, but we can count on 90 Hz from its donor X50i+. There Honor 70 is better with its 120 Hz, but at the time of release it was more expensive.

Hardly more powerful than Xiaomi Redmi Note 13?

Inside, the configuration is based on 8 GB of RAM and the SoC Mediatek Dimensity 6080. In France, we have never seen this chip on a smartphone. According to tests, it will be slightly more powerful than the Snapdragon 685. We saw it running on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G and it wasn’t very good. A little dated, it provides smooth navigation, but not without stuttering, and when it comes to games, it forces you to start knitting. Even if the Honor 200 Lite’s processor is slightly more efficient, it shouldn’t spark.

Honor 200 Lite is 5G compatible and has two nanoSIM card slots. It also has Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1 and GPS module (GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo). There’s no mention of NFC, but it would be surprising if it wasn’t included.

“Fast” charging at 35 W.

Honor uses a 4,500mAh battery to power this set. Honor’s “Supercharge” has been taken into account. Works with a 35W AC adapter, not included. In the box we will find a USB-C cable, undoubtedly a reinstalled protective film and an ejector.

Honor 200 Lite is sold only in the 256 GB version. There are three finishes available, including one exclusive to Honor store customers: black, light blue and blue (Honor only).
