The long love story is almost over between Iker Muniain and Athletic Club Bilbao. The kid from the Basque Country will leave his training club at the end of the season. He played 15 seasons with the A team A total of 557 games played which allows him to be second among the most used players in Athletics history, after José Angel Iribar (614). He leaves with a free mind, but not without emotion, after lifting the club’s 24th trophy in the Copa del Rey. He even scored the winning goal in the penalty shootout against Mallorca.
The club’s youngest goalscorer
He was born in Pamplona, in the third largest city of the Basque Country, and entered the gym at the age of 12. He made his debut with the first team at the age of 16. His first official match took place on 30 July 2009 against Young Boys in San Mamès. He scored in the return match, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the club’s history.
During his 15 seasons, Muniain scored 75 goals in La Liga, Copa, Champions League and Europa League. In particular, he won two Supercups (2015 and 2021). A tribute will soon be reserved for him at the San-Mamés stadium.

Athletic Club’s attacking midfielder ended a 40-year drought in a very expensive competition for fans of the Catalan club.
