Benoît Saint Denis announces his return to Paris in May… in a surprise match

A month and a half after his defeat at UFC 299 against Dustin Poirier, Benoît Saint Denis announced his return on his Youtube channel. The Frenchman explained that he will return to grappling at the Grand Dojo in Paris on May 18. If “BSD” has not revealed the identity of the opponent, it is known since Arman Tsarukyan himself announced a shock against Saint Denis.

On March 9, Benoît Saint Denis was present on the Miami side for a more than expected match. Facing Dustin Poirier, in the -70 kg category of champion Islam Makhachev, the Frenchman was on the bill for the co-main event of UFC 299. Reduced by an infection, “BSD” lost after taking a terrible KO on the hook during the second round.

A month and a half after this match, Benoît Saint Denis announced his return on his Youtube channel. He will be present at the Grand Dojo in Paris on May 18 for a… grappling fight.

Arman Tsarukyan announces that he will be Saint Denis’ opponent

Benoît Saint Denis answered several questions on video and talked about his next deadline. “You know me, I don’t like to wait and I like to be active. Professional grappling, the organization is called ADXC and it will happen in Paris on May 18 at the Grand Dojo”, explains the “God of War.”

In this great fight, five three-minute rounds will be contested. The advantage of the discipline, where all the specialized ground wrestling practices are used, is that there is therefore no risk of knockout. For Saint Denis, it is ideal for staying active without taking another blow to the head.

In his video, however, Benoît Saint Denis remained mysterious about the identity of his opponent. “Of course we will have an opponent who will be there to resist and who will be there to show off,” the Frenchman confided without giving further details.

Fortunately for “BSD” fans, the identity is no longer a secret as Arman Tsarukyan revealed on Michael Bisping’s podcast that he would challenge the Frenchman on May 18. “I’m going to Miami on Sunday and I’m going to fight a lot because I’m going to compete on May 18 against Benoit Saint Denis. It’s going to be a great fight, there will be five rounds, each round will last three minutes and I have to start “I already train, but nothing crazy, once a day, just to relax,” said Tsarukyan.Fighting in the UFC as Benoît Saint Denis, the Armenian nugget recently beat Charles Oliveira at UFC 300, to become No. 1 – challenger in the -70 kg category.

In his podcast, Michael Bisping slips that according to him the fight will be difficult for “BSD” on May 18, but Tsarukyan is not leaving with excessive confidence. “For me too (it will be difficult), he knows grappling, but for me it’s more beneficial because I grew up wrestling.”
