Marseille: fireworks, luminous drones… at the major, Group F set the games on fire

Suddenly, a huge Olympic torch appeared out of nowhere, above the dark waters of the Mediterranean. Hundreds of small points of light, formed by no less than 800 drones rotating in the sky to make a flame ripple, the same as the one that left Friday night from Athens to board Belem, bound for Marseille. Then come the fireworks and the gentle technological choreography, meticulously orchestrated by the Arlesians of Group F, chosen by the Metropolis and the Department of Bouches-du-Rhône for this ceremony to launch the festivities surrounding the Olympic Games.

18,000 spectators

Zelie, 8 years old, is surprised and looks up at the sequence of impressive dotted images: Belem, a windsurfing board, a football player, an olive tree … “It looks like glitter in the sky“, exclaims the little girl, who especially remembered the five Olympic rings, gigantic above the Digue du broad.

We didn’t expect the show to work so well. It really puts us in the Olympic spirit!“, enthuses Lena, 25 years old.”If it’s that impressive, we can’t wait until May 8“, jumps his friend Chaïma, 28 years old. In total, almost 18,000 people attended this show, in addition to the concert given just before by the Gipsy Kings, who came to replace Kendji Girac, originally planned.”It’s really beautiful moments, I’m a fan of them, it brings everyone together and it makes you want to partyMarie-Christine (65) cheered before the fireworks show started.

The weekend’s sporting and musical festivities continue this Saturday at Place de la Major from 2pm to 6pm, as the Flame begins its first day at sea, aboard Belem.
