Support for Palestine in France Criminal offense punishable by imprisonment

Showing solidarity with Palestine is now a potential offense in France. Prefects, state prosecutor’s offices, the police, all these authorities received instructions. It ranges from an impromptu speech in a cafe to a leaflet denouncing the spiral of war, as in the case of this CGT trade unionist who was sentenced to a year’s probation. The accused even admitted in court that his wording was undesirable, but that the principle of his action was pacifist and humane, stressing that “colonial violence leads to terrorist violence”.

As of October 7, 2023, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people in any way has resulted in calls to the police, including criminal convictions and previous bans on demonstrations. While hundreds of political and media figures, including athletes, actors and actresses, express themselves freely through all possible channels in France, radio, television, newspapers, meetings, conferences, authorized demonstrations, they have the right to the city, well established on the street, in hours, in a loop, accusing the Palestinian population of being terrorists who threaten Israel’s security, justifying massacres and live genocide by accusing men, women, old people and children of being in the service of Hamas, while the horror figures explode to 35,000 dead in six months with no less than 15,000 children, and not to mention 2.2 million people in the grip of hunger.

All these data are continuously corrupted by talk show hosts where some hosts openly dare to insult their guests who disagree with them, calling them fascists, Islamists and promoters of terrorism against the Israeli people.
Today, after the passing of the Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti, in front
The National Assembly announced that “waving the Hamas flag in demonstrations can constitute a criminal offense of glorifying terrorism.” Éric Dupond-Moretti also adds that this qualification includes “comments praising the attacks, presenting them as legitimate resistance to Israel,” as well as “publicly spreading messages that encourage people to pass a favorable judgment on Hamas or Islamic Jihad.” In other words, the French state wants to follow any statement that “presents resistance to Israel as legitimate.” Which clearly means: we must support Israel and blame Palestine. Otherwise, there is no word on it. Worse, it can very quickly become a criminal offense punishable by the French authorities.

For the French state, things are simple: any declaration supporting Palestine and the Palestinian struggle for the right to exist is now synonymous with anti-Semitism or even an apology for terrorism, as the investigation launched against the new anti-capitalist party of Philippe Poutou and Olivier Besancenot shows.

In this circular, the Minister of Justice goes even further and states the following: “Also, I draw your attention to the fact that even comments have been made which tend to encourage others to pass a favorable judgment on an act classified as terrorist or on its author. in the context of a debate of general interest and the claim that I am a participant in a speech of a political nature” constitute an apology for terrorism […]. Publicly making remarks praising said attacks, presenting them as legitimate resistance to Israel, […] therefore he must be the subject of proceedings on the above charge.

Things do not admit that there is no shadow. They talk about the right to freedom of expression, the right to peaceful demonstrations, the right to state one’s position, the right to write a text or even publish a book that puts things in their real historical context by analyzing the conflict between Israel and Palestine is simply null and void in France today. The radical and anti-democratic stance of the French government which continues to widen the gap between the Muslim, Jewish and Christian communities in France, fueling hatred and increasing the sense of injustice and systematic stigmatization experienced and felt by millions of Muslims in France.
