The Olympic flame goes to France on Saturday 27 April. But what journey will it take, aboard Belem, then in the hands of the carriers?

The Olympic flame, which will illuminate France for 69 days, will first arrive by sea on May 8. Belem enters the port of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), with the precious flame on board. The next day it will cross the city of Marseille. To travel through France and its emblematic sites, 10,000 torchbearers are planned. From Mont Saint-Michel (Sleeve) to the Millau Viaduct (Aveyron)from the beaches of Normandy to the beaches of Tahiti, the flame will also visit castles, such as Versailles (Yvelines) or Chambord (Loir-et-Cher)and will climb Mont Ventoux (Vaucluse) and the steps to Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes).

Finish line in Paris

After Marseille, direction Corsica, then west of France, to Brest (Finistère), from where the flame will return to the overseas territories. Return to Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), to travel east of the territory: the Mont Blanc valley, the vineyards of Burgundy, to Paris. The end of the flame’s journey is set for July 26 in Paris, for the opening ceremony planned on the Seine.
