The PS calls for the suspension of the EU-Israel association agreement

The Socialist Party, through Olivier Faure, requested on Friday the suspension of the association agreement between the EU and Israel, which is “destroying the Gaza Strip” according to its European candidate Raphaël Glucksmann.

“We cannot accept that the far-right government, Netanyahu’s, continues to indiscriminately attack civilians, women, children, fighters, journalists and humanitarians”condemned the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure at the public senate.

“You have these children who are now orphans, who are crippled, who are children who will only want one thing in life, and that is to take revenge for what they suffered”he added.

Faure pleads “for the suspension of the agreement between Israel and the European Union so that we can harness all our forces, make sure that Europe does not simply re-align with the United States and make its own choices.

The association agreement between the EU, Israel’s largest trading partner, and the latter specifically ensures privileged access to Israeli products on the European market.

Dealing with the government “who destroys the Gaza Strip”, “The European Union is silent on the fate of Palestinian civilians” Raphaël Glucksmann, head of the socialist list in the European elections, lamented.

“It is not enough to repeat that we want a two-state solution (…) It is time to put much more pressure on the Israeli government,” he judged on BFMTV.

Glucksmann brackets “the effort of the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to achieve the recognition of the Palestinian state, to show that we are really committed to the fact that this state is created and that it is not just a petition in principle.
