Chronicles of Eiyuden or revival of Suikoden

The latest from the late Yoshitaka Murayama, Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes is a true love letter to the classic JRPGs. Developed by industry veterans who have worked on iconic games (led by Suikoden and Wild Arms), the game captures the nostalgic spirit of those JRPGs with art direction that combines 2D and 3D and an immersive soundtrack by Moto Sakuraba (Dark Souls, Valkyrie Profile). …) and Michiko Naruka (Valis 3, Wild Arms…). The story tells of the confrontation between two former friends who oppose each other ideologically and armedly in order to offer peace to their countries. A classic plot in a nutshell, but with wonderful narrative character development and plenty of unexpected twists to avoid the monotony. As with its predecessor, recruiting new allies (108 potential) is essential to developing your base and strengthening your team. ECHE’s leveled combat system provides a deep strategic experience. By combining individual attacks with group attacks and special skills, you will have to develop cunning tactics to defeat the most treacherous enemies. Additionally, the ability to customize each character’s skills and classes adds depth to the gameplay. However, despite its undeniable qualities, The Chronicles of Eiyuden is not without its shortcomings. The Western translation suffers from taking too many liberties with the original script and sometimes betrays its intentions, the script also has some pacing issues, and while the graphics are charming, on console they suffer from unsightly filters. Despite these minor shortcomings, this game remains a memorable experience for any RPG enthusiast, whether they are a long-time fan of the Suikoden saga or not.
