The first edition of “Safety Day 2024” was organized on Friday at the construction site of the Dakhla Atlantique port, in commemoration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

This event, initiated by the Port Development Directorate of Dakhla Atlantique, under the Ministry of Equipment and Water, is part of efforts aimed at shedding light on measures that are likely to strengthen occupational safety and health systems and improve the management of occupational risks in Dakhla Atlantique will improve. port.

This event, which takes place under the theme ‘Safety on public works’, also aims to guarantee a safe and healthy working environment during the different phases of the construction of this port platform.

On this occasion, the Director of the Port Development Directorate of Dakhla Atlantique, Nisrine Iouzzi, indicated that the organization of “Safety Day” aims to raise awareness of the importance of safety management at work, especially on large construction sites. such as the port of Dakhla Atlantique, which highlights the need for the exchange of expertise, experience and good practices in this field.

Aware of the importance of the issue of occupational health and safety, she continued, since the beginning of the implementation of this major project, management has decided to implement a modern and effective management system, based on the identification and evaluation of potential risks .

Management has also opted to implement adequate preventive measures and improve the efficiency of the teams responsible for health and safety, she continued.

Ms. Iouzzi also focused on the effectiveness of the occupational safety and health management system adopted in the Dakhla Atlantique port site, specifying that this site employs more than 1,600 people, including engineers, technicians and skilled workers.

In this wake, she indicated that thanks to the efforts of the specialized safety teams, no fatal accident occurred, specifying that only 19 accidents and 5 incidents were recorded, after more than 4.5 million working hours.

On this occasion, Ms Iouzzi reiterated the commitment of the managers and authorities responsible for port management, each in their respective positions, to show great vigilance and make safety an absolute priority, emphasizing the importance of effective communication between operational health and safety actors and organizations at work.

The program for this day includes thematic workshops focused on “Road Safety”, “First Aid”, “Working at Height” and “Maritime Work”, supervised by a large number of national executives from the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), Civil Security Officers and managers of organizations working in the port.

This event was marked by the participation of representatives of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and representatives of the regional commands of the Royal Navy, Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection, as well as actors and operational organizations for occupational health and safety.
