When the village church needed expensive renovations in 2008, he did not hesitate to organize a charity concert with his friend Ginette Reno to raise money for the work.

The name of the church was also changed to “Jean-Pierre Ferland Cultural Space” in his honor.

Jean-Pierre Ferland’s influence will be felt for a long time in this municipality, according to its mayor.

“He’s lived in St. Norbert for at least 50 years, longer than I’ve been here, and he’s helped the church a lot. […] “We were lucky that he was there to help us,” says Sonia Desjardins. “He was a good citizen we met.”

The municipality will lower its flags starting Monday in honor of the legendary singer.
