The transformed cinematographer will meet his audience in May at Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban

On Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m., the Cinématographe de Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban will open its doors. The five-member team, led by Chantal Samat, will give Summit a fresh start after two months of work, with a live screening of the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony, followed by the film The second actDirected by Quentin Dupieux (Léa Seydoux, Louis Garrel…), who also opens the festival. The Simone-Signoret Cultural Center has been completely renovated by its owner Provence-Alpes-Agglomération (PAA), and the work includes the Cinématographe, the Media Library, the Stendhal Restaurant and part of the Durance Theater.

In Cinematographe, the impeccable rooms were not affected, but accessibility for people with limited mobility was adhered to. “The entrance hall has been redesigned, people will not have to wait outside anymore, and it will be more comfortable for them. Staff offices were grouped together on the ground floor, and acoustic and thermal insulation was rebuilt“, explains Chantal Samat, director. The complex includes three rooms: the Truffaut Room (100 places), the Chaplin Room (213 places) and the Duchet Room (145 places).

Is the impact of Covid still present in cinema?

Have people returned to movie theaters after Covid? “Yesstates Chantal Samat. People are going back to the cinema, and there is the joy of watching a movie together, feeling the emotions together. Just before the lockdown, we felt like people didn’t want to leave us“As for the youth.”They come piecemeal, depending on the movie. More precisely than before, it is no longer linear“.
