“I can’t wait to go”: residents of two nursing homes in Vienne ready to participate in three events during the Paris Olympics

Rugby sevens and athletics at the Stade de France, but also beach volleyball at the Champ de Mars. This is the program that awaits nine residents at the Pierre-Péricard nursing home, in Civaux, and Saint-Thibault, in Fleuré, in Vienna. Those who will participate in one of these events in the Olympic Games at the end of July in Paris. A project that requires a lot of organization and above all gathers all the residents, including those who do not travel, around a unifying topic: sport.

“On site it’s much better!”

In less than three months, Simone will be standing in the stands cheering on the athletes in one of the three events commissioned by her nursing home a year ago. Her preference: “I’d like to go and watch athletics. It’s good and you have to run fast.” For Alain and Didier it will be rather “rugby!” On a daily basis, they already watch sports on TV and talk about it, but this time it will be in real life.

And if Alain finds out that we “watch TV better”, Simone is eager to enjoy the atmosphere. “We are better when we are there, it is much better the atmosphere is not the same”, she exclaims.
