From June 17 to 23, the Clay Courts of Ramier will host the 30th Montauban International Tennis Open which will be dedicated to the memory of Philippe Chaumerliac, the recently deceased president of the department’s tennis committee. The event was presented to ATM partners … with a very well-orchestrated teaser by President Michel Orliac for the anniversary evening on June 18. It remains to guess the identity of the surprise guest!

It was in the premises of SN Diffusion, in Aussonne, that ATM tennis padel welcomed its partners, Thursday 25 April, for the presentation evening of the 30th Montauban international tennis open.

A jubilee edition, planned from 17 to 23 June, which will be dedicated to Philippe Chaumerliac, announced president Michel Orliac. Emotions gripped the audience as the smiling face of the department’s tennis committee president, who died suddenly on March 22, appeared on the screen. “The best tribute we can still give him is to applaud him,” the ATM president said.
“It is Philippe who should have been there tonight to represent the committee,” declared Frédéric Bernardin, a member of the steering committee. And to remind of the strong ties between the ATM and the department’s tennis committee, which has its offices in Ramier.

This partner evening, in the presence of Bernard Pécou, ward councilor and Daniel Bory, sports assistant for the city of Montauban, also offered us moments of shared joy, when the double formed by Gaspard Brachet and Livio Michelin received the cup double winners in the 8-10-year-old Elite division, the Pyrenees phase. Gaspard and Livio will play the Occitanie final on June 22 in Balma.

June 22 will be the day for the semi-finals of the 30th International Open. Part of the ITF circuit, this tournament is endowed with $25,000 and acts as a springboard for tomorrow’s talents: the best example, remembered by Michel Orliac, is Ugo Umbert, the current 14th in the world, who had trained on the Ramier courts.

Who will be the surprise guest?

For this anniversary edition, the ATM has decided to organize a single partner night to avoid competition from the Montauban en scenes festival and the EC football… but an evening that will become a landmark, Tuesday 18 June, and promises many surprises. The location, the evening’s content and the identity of the guest of honor are not revealed until the last minute. Enough to arouse the curiosity of partners. On the profile of the guest of honour, Michel Orliac nevertheless gave a clue: “Last year we welcomed the president of the FFT Gilles Moretton who honored our tournament with his presence. The aim is to make it even better for this 30th opening.”
