Opened on April 30, the new center for oncology, radiotherapy and neuroradiosurgery of the Civil Hospice of Lyon (HCL) combines two state-of-the-art particle accelerators and a gamma knife in one location. This new center for oncology, radiotherapy and neuroradiosurgery of the Civil Hospice of Lyon (HCL) is located near the neurological hospital Pierre Wertheimer (Bron).

Gamna Knife device, the first in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes

The oncological center for radiation therapy and neuroradiosurgery installed the first Gamma Knife device in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. In operation since January 17, 2023, this cutting-edge equipment for neuroradiosurgery uses gamma rays to deliver a very high dose of rays to ultralocal areas of the brain while sparing sensitive areas in the periphery. Thus, the advent of Gamma Knife in the HCL facilitates the care of patients in the region affected by brain pathology, whether benign or malignant.
