Gymnastics. Marine Boyer wins bronze medal on the balance beam in the EC

France’s Marine Boyer won the bronze medal on the balance beam at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, May 4 in Rimini (Italy), bringing the French team to three medals.

The gymnast, who turns 24 in a few days, scored a total of 14,033 points to reach the third step of the podium, behind Italy’s Manila Esposito (14,400), who was already crowned on Thursday in the all-around competition. Romanian Sabrina Maneca-Voinea took silver (14.166). Boyer, who has been with the French senior team for ten years, has already competed in two Olympic Games (4th on the beam in Rio in 2016 and 6th on the team in Tokyo in 2021).

A team podium to search for

Silver medalist on beam at EC-2016 and bronze, still on beam at EC-2018, she is one of the Blues who managed to qualify France for the Paris Olympics this summer by winning the team bronze medal during the 2023 Worlds in October in Antwerp (Belgium).

This Saturday, Coline Devillard won gold on vault and Ming Gherardi van Eijken won bronze on the same apparatus. Two chances remain for an individual medal on Saturday in Rimini, on floor, with Morgane Osyssek and Ming Gherardi van Eijken. On Sunday, the French team will try to get on the podium in the team event.
