After his beautiful 19^e place during the last one Diagonal of Foolsin Reunion, Gratotai’s Paul Fontenay had set himself a first goal this season, by participating in MIUT115 on the island Madeira (Portugal), a event with an international reputation.

I was hoping for a top 10 to confirm the hopes for me after my Diagonale des Fous. But I had made so much special preparation, without ever finding good sensations since February, that I left without any aim.

He canceled almost everything, but “some clues” eventually got him back in trust so that he could try his luck, at a test he would do one day.

Finally, the sensations was pretty good at first and it lasted a long time Top 10 daysup to around ten kilometers from the finish, on a descending section.

I became aware of the importance of training in the mountains, in order to develop certain muscular characteristics. With my association, I hope to be able to organize courses in the mountains.

He also suffered from particularly bad conditions: “I didn’t expect to have so many rain, with 3°C known at night and very thick fog. »

He finally crossed the finish line at 18^e place . “It remains one Top 20on a world eventwith training in Normandy, you have to know how to appreciate things, knowing that it was just mine third ultra trail. I still have time anddesire to move forward . »

We should see him again in the channel during the 80 km of Barjo, “but without a classification target because I don’t want the necessary preparation”.

He then hopes to “take part in a race for the UTMB mark, but I don’t know which one yet”, with the idea of ​​taking part inlegendary Mont-Blanc eventnext year.
