The United States Parliament is preparing to examine the contract for the sale of four “MQ-9B Sea Guardian” drones to Morocco, manufactured by General Atomics, in the coming days, Iberian media reports. The US State Department has already given the green light to the contract, concluded under the Trump administration, the same source adds. The statement released, moreover, on the same day that the former president of the United States recognized the Moroccan nature of the Sahara.

The SeaGuardian MQ-9B unmanned aerial vehicles have a range of 1,200 nautical miles (about 2,200 km) that can survey vast areas at sea or over desert. The December 10, 2020 contract, valued at $1 billion, also includes Hellfire, Paveway and JDAM precision-guided missiles from Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Boeing.
