Eliminating measles is a provincial priority

Like the Kingdom’s prefectures and provinces, the provincial delegation of health and social protection of Sidi Qassem recently announced the launch of an extensive provincial campaign to strengthen measles vaccination, as part of its proactive policy to limit the spread of epidemics and strengthen the response. This initiative aims to restore childhood vaccination rates to observed levels, which has resulted in increased vaccination coverage rates in most urban and rural communities in the province.

With this in mind, the provincial delegation urges all families, especially parents and guardians, to promptly review their children’s medical records at health centers and private practices to ensure that the required measles doses are administered at nine and eighteen months of age. states provincial director Dr. Moha Akki, emphasizing the need to administer two doses of the vaccine to children who have not yet been vaccinated, while supplementing doses for those who have received only one.

As part of its communication strategy to monitor the epidemiological evolution of measles and ongoing efforts to contain the spread of epidemiological diseases and protect public health, the said Provincial Director of Health, after a meeting in his office, announces that he is monitoring the emergence of new cases of measles in this province, which suggests wider spread of the virus.

Stressing the importance of this campaign as a preventive measure to protect citizens and society from the risk of contracting measles, Moha Akki calls on all stakeholders to actively participate in this operation and visit health centers to receive the vaccine free of charge, the same source noted. And recall that the Provincial Health Organization continues to warn of provincial regressions in surveillance systems and declining vaccination rates as no province is immune to the threat of measles, increasing the risk of an epidemic and putting all children unvaccinated against the disease at risk which could potentially lead to mortality.
