The peloton would arrive grouped, or nearly so, at the base of the Oropa Shrine (11.8 km at 6.2%). This second phase does not present much difficulty in its first part. In the final push, the passage to 14%, two kilometers from the finish line, would hurt the legs. At the end of the stage, the pink jersey must be changed.
Which favorites?
Of course, the name of Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) is the most talked about, as the Slovenian has been so far above the rest since the start of the season. On Saturday, he finished third on the first stage. But this Sunday, barring mechanical problems or crashes, the recent Liège-Bastogne-Liège winner should deliver a first blow to his main rivals.
