After a year of dating, they broke up. A break that would have been taken “by mutual agreement”.

End of the romance between Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Almost a year ago, the Greek player announced the start of his story with the Spanish player. But this Sunday, May 5, the former world number 2 announced the break-up in an Instagram story.

“After much consideration and many precious moments together, Stefanos and I have mutually decided to go our separate ways. We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, and it is as friends, with immense mutual respect, that we now choose to moving on in our own ways,” she wrote.

She then added: “We are grateful for the support of our friends, family and everyone who has been a part of our story. As we enter this new chapter in our lives, we continue to wish each other the best in whatever we desire We ask that you respect our privacy during this time, and we thank you for your understanding and respect.”

Career difficulties

This separation comes at a time when the two players are going through a very complicated period for Badosa and a checkered start to the season for Tsitsipas.

For her part, the Spanish athlete is in a particularly complex situation as she suffers from a chronic back injury. She is now out of the top 100 in the WTA rankings and the rest of her career is in jeopardy.
