“It’s true that we were contracted,” says scrum-half Thomas Fernandez, “maybe they were more present in the engagement. But ideally we would have gone into the game. We scored quickly but from the 20th minute onwards the tougher.

“Given the first leg we won, we expected an upset from them,” explains coach Fabrice Landes. Despite a very good start from our side, we were then deprived of the ball, add to that many small mistakes which cost us dearly. We give them confidence. They come back in the fight. The start of the 2nd half is disastrous. In the end we had the strength to take the win, but they defended well and too many small mistakes hindered our actions. Well done by Montluçon, they came to get him, but it’s very frustrating. Our players deserved to play in the round of 16, I’m disappointed for them. »
If the season ends honorably for the pennant team, the adventure continues for the hopes of Figeac who, after beating Guéret in the 32 final, will face the hopes of Tournon/Rhône – Tain l’Ermitage next Sunday on the field of Clermont, the plain of the Puy de Dôme .
