Chellah Jazz Festival returns in Rabat from May 10 to 12 – Telquel.ma

toThe event will include European and Moroccan artists who will perform at the historic site of Chellah, offering music lovers an experience that transcends borders, according to a press release issued by the European Union delegation to Morocco.

This year, the festival coincides with Europe Day, which is celebrated on May 9. Arts and cultural meetings aim to promote the diversity of artistic expressions as a universal language of feeling, participation and peace.

The European Union Ambassador to Morocco, Patricia Lombart-Cossack, emphasized the importance of music as a means of dialogue between people and as an example of the richness of diversity. “The harmony and precious moments of union at this festival – which aims to be an ode to the fusion between European jazz and Moroccan music – admirably embodies the partnership between Morocco and the European Union, especially in its humanitarian and cultural dimensions.” “She said.

The program includes various concerts, most notably a concert by German trumpet player Marcus Stockhausen, accompanied by musician and poet Aziz El-Sahmawi, as well as a show bringing together the French band Sarab and qanun player Heba Makkawi.

Other musical encounters are scheduled, such as the meeting between the Spanish pianist Daniel Garcia and the oud player Idriss Maloumi, as well as a performance by the Munch Trio with the Moroccan band Urban Folklore.

Advanced lessons for musicians and singers will also be organized, led by professionals such as Clemen Zerkan, Aziz Sahmaoui and Adrian Lambinet.

The festival will not be limited to theatrical performances, but will also present a traveling concert in the streets of Rabat, proposed by the SALT band, that combines various styles of jazz music in a joyful atmosphere.
