Eurovision: Artists from 37 countries arrived in Malmö

Artists representing 37 countries participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 have arrived in the Swedish city of Malmo.

They walked on the famous turquoise carpet to open the event ahead of the first semi-final match to be held on Monday.

This year’s competition coincides with the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s 1974 triumph with the hit song Waterloo.

But there was also controversy, as some opposed Israel’s participation because of the war in Gaza. The Swedish authorities promised “strict” security protocols due to the expected protests.
