Fez – Vicente Amigo, one of the most influential flamenco musicians of his generation, will delight audiences at the 27th edition of the World Sacred Music Festival in Fez.

For his second participation in the Fez World Sacred Music Festival, prolific guitarist Vicente Amigo promises an unforgettable concert in which flamenco, Andalusia, Spanish culture and arts will be majestically honored, says a press release of the festival organizers.

Disciple and successor of Paco de Lucía, Vicente Amigo will rock the Door of the Machine stage on May 31, 2024 during a concert eagerly awaited by fans of flamenco music and Andalusian culture.

In this show, which will celebrate Spain, the country that highlights this edition, Vicente Amigo will be accompanied by his repertoire musicians: Antonio Fernández (Anil) on guitar, Paquito González on percussion, Eoin Vernal on bass, Rafael Osero Vilches (Rafael). de Utrera) on vocals and Antonio Molina (Corro) on dance.

With his light and flexible style, Vicente Amigo has succeeded in creating a bridge between classical flamenco and new or contemporary flamenco.

His ability to move between different styles perfectly suits his accompanying singers, while promoting original musical creations. Complete mastery of the flamenco style, musical curiosity and exceptional talent make Vicente Amigo one of flamenco music’s most innovative creators.

He revolutionized this art with his bold compositions, mixing different genres such as folk, jazz and South American rhythms, as well as oriental sounds, without losing the purity of classical flamenco.

Vicente Amigo’s music remained open to the world, in constant renewal, which allowed him to collaborate with other geniuses such as Paco de Lucía and Manolo Sanlucar, or well-known singers such as Carmen Linares, Enrique Morente, Diego El Cigala, Miguel Poveda, El Pelé, José Merci and Estrella Morente. .

Vicente Amigo was born in Guadalcanal, province of Seville, but grew up in Cordoba where at the age of eight he acquired his first Spanish guitar. His first teachers were El Tomate and El Merengo, then he became a student of Manolo Sanlúcar. In 1988, he began his solo career by performing at the International Festival del Cante de la Minas de la Union where he won first prize in the guitar section. He later won the Extremadura International Competition. In May 1989, he won one of the major national guitar awards, the Ramon Montoya Award. Within two years, the prodigy won three major flamenco guitar competitions.
