Formula 1. “The first point in a long series”, Esteban Ocon hopes happily after Miami

After 109 Grands Prix competitions and eight second places, Lando Norris (McLaren) became the winner of a Miami Grand Prix, winning ahead of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) in Miami (USA), this Sunday 5 May. The British driver enjoyed a spirited race.

“It’s good to score a point today and open our account this seasonestimated Esteban Ocon (Alpine, 10th) at the end of the Grand Prix. We had come close in the previous races and we are finally leaving with a reward. The team deserves it given their efforts in recent weeks. It was very intense from start to finish, with big battles throughout the event. We cannot be completely satisfied with the result, because it is only one point, but it is an important point for our campaign. It is a credit to the team that they were able to maintain their confidence and be motivated to continue to improve the car and move from the back row in Bahrain to where we are today. I hope this will be the first point in a long series this year. »

For his part, Pierre Gasly (Alpine, 12th) also showed his satisfaction: “We had a good race although we narrowly missed out on the points. We had done everything necessary to achieve this. We had a good pace, we fought hard from the start to maintain the position, then we stopped early, as planned .The timing of the safety car didn’t work in my favor, but that’s how it is from a team’s point of view, and that’s the most important thing. Whether it’s me or Esteban, I’m just very happy for the team today. It’s great for everyone’s motivation and confidence. We’re in the game, it’s been the best weekend of the season so it’s good to show our progress . »
