Colorectal cancer screening is now available everywhere on the North Shore.

The display will soon be possible on site at Carrefour La Baie, which has become a service center in Sept-Îles within the CISSS Côte-Nord.

CISSS de la Côte-Nord announces that colorectal cancer screening is now available throughout the Côte-Nord. The examination will be carried out on site in Baie-Comeau as well as in Sept-Îles, and will be carried out through teleconsultations in other parts of the territory.

Screening takes place at the Center Laflèche service point in Baie-Comeau. Eligible individuals must first make an appointment through Clic Santé or by calling 1 844 407-0967. In September-Ile this service will be offered in the coming weeks at Carrefour La Baie. Until then, residents of Sept-Îles and its surrounding areas can benefit from teleconsultations.

Teleconsultation

When scheduling an appointment, the user will have the choice between a teleconsultation by phone or a video call (Teams). During the consultation, the nurse will assess whether he is eligible for screening. In this case, two types of screening will be offered: immunochemical fecal occult blood test (iFOBT) for intermediate-risk cases or colonoscopy for high-risk cases.

Colorectal cancer screening is recommended for everyone aged 50 to 74 years. Asymptomatic people under 50 years of age with a family history are also invited to be tested.
