Beatles Against Cancer tribute concert with Alexandre da Costa at Maison Symphonique on Friday

The maestro says he is particularly moved by the case, as one of his close friends is a cancer survivor.

“It’s our own version of The Beatles, with our arrangements, our musical vision and our symphonic signature that is noble and also energetic and at the same time fun. “It’s a fusion, a sensory experience, that allows us to recognize the great classics of the group, but with something a little bigger,” explains Alexander Da Costa.

Although he prefers to remain discreet, he confirms that one of his relatives fought the disease. To become a survivor who admires his strength and ability to keep smiling. He remembers the impact the disease had on the entire family, especially the young children involved.

The Maestro believes that this concert is a tribute to this person dear to him, and a wonderful way to raise money for research. “It’s a humanitarian issue for everyone,” he breathes, recalling the sad and great possibility that a loved one in every family will be affected one day.

He hopes, of course, that the same will be true for this show (which is nearly three hours long, he says) in tribute to the Beatles.

Beatles songs (Twist and scream, I can’t buy me love, help me, yesterday, imagine, so be it, I want to hold your hand, oh Jude… ) will be performed by the four guest singers: Christel Mongeau, Jonas Tomalty, Michel Girard, and Sarah-Maude Desgagné (now known by the stage name Léxé) who were unveiled at star Academy.
