NEW – Only 74 examples of this less radical version than the exclusive M4 CSL are planned for the French market.

The recipe has been tested, but it is still eagerly awaited by fans of the motorsport versions. After the exclusive M4 CSL, limited to 1,000 units, BMW now offers the M4 in CS (Club Sport) version. Like the M3 CS launched last year, the new coupe inherits the CSL’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. It produces 550 horsepower at 6,250 rpm, an increase of 20 hp. compared to the latest evolution of the M4 Competition and 650 Nm of torque from 2750 to 5950 rpm, thanks in particular to an increase in boost pressure to 2.1 bar. This exceptional mechanism is combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission, equipped with several modes and controlled via steering wheel paddle shifters. Unlike the M4 CSL, the M4 CS retains the M Drive all-wheel drive transmission, but it can be switched off.

Bavarian engineers have improved the power-to-weight ratio by combining increased power with reduced weight. About 20 kilograms can be saved compared to the M4 Competition by using carbon fiber for the roof, bonnet, air intakes and aero blade at the front, mirror caps, rear diffuser, bonnet spoiler and scoop. seat frames. For reference, the M4 CSL’s weight savings reached 100 kilograms thanks to the removal of the rear seat and various adjustments.

The M4 CS chassis has undergone a program of improvements. The adaptive suspension is tuned to increase performance, and an M front strut brace is available as an option to increase the rigidity of the front axle. Unlike the previous generation M3 CS (F80 CS), the strut tower is no longer made of carbon but aluminum to meet crash test standards.

Like its CSL sibling, the CS benefits from weight savings and increased power. The weight gain is 20 kilograms thanks to the use of a carbon fiber hood, aerodynamic scoop and roof. The inside of the bucket seat shells, as well as the center console, inserts and shift paddles are made from this lightweight material. The improved power-to-weight ratio is based on increased output from the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, thanks to engine management adjustments and an increase in boost pressure to 2.1 bar instead of 1.7 bar. In terms of performance, the M4 CS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and hits the 200 km/h mark in 11.1 seconds. The M Experience package allows this coupe to reach a top speed of 302 km/h.

Only 74 examples of the M4 CS are available in France, priced at €162,000.
