Tamesna – The International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Office for Vocational Training and Promotion (OFPPT) have decided to expand their cooperation into the areas of care and services for the individual and the community, the OFPPT General Manager confirmed on Wednesday in Tamesna, Loubna Tricha.

“We have agreed with the ILO to continue our interactions and explore together new opportunities for cooperation, especially on themes of common interest such as care professions and personal and community services,” Ms. Tricha underlined in a statement to the press on the occasion of a visit by ILO Director General Gilbert Houngbo to the City of Trade and Skills (CMC) of Tamesna.

In this sense, the DG of the OFPPT noted that the ILO remains an important player in the employment/training ecosystem on the international stage, and reiterated the OFPPT’s commitment to supporting strategic projects implemented in Morocco, for the benefit of the skills development and promoting youth employability, including projects undertaken jointly with the ILO.

For his part, Mr Houngbo welcomed his visit to the Tamesna CMC, stressing that it is crucial to develop professions and skills at different levels to stem the problem of youth employment, especially in a evolving world in which artificial intelligence is starting to gain the upper hand. .

During this visit, the ILO DG, accompanied by a delegation, was able to take note of the efforts made by Morocco to develop vocational training, in particular the ambitious project to create a new generation of training institutions, the backbone of the new roadmap for professional training development.

On this occasion, the ILO delegation visited the different areas of the CMC Tamesna, including the common structures, the innovation chain and the training workshops. This city offers diversified training to 79 sectors with a capacity of 4,560 teaching places.

The OFPPT will also contribute to the second phase of the THAMM project, for the period 2024-2028, aimed at complementing the bilateral mobility programs implemented between the countries of North Africa and the Member States of the European Union (EU) .

The Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion also participated in the STED-AMT (Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification) project, a regional initiative launched by the ILO and funded by the Korean Agency KOICA, in countries of the Maghreb, including Morocco , which enabled the sectoral analysis of two industries, namely IT Offshoring (ITO) and Biscuit, Chocolate and Confectionery (BCC). For example, 15 OFPPT employees benefited from training on the STED approach, which provides strategic direction for the integration of skills development into sectoral policies.

Between 2012 and 2016, another project was developed together with the ILO on ‘Young People at Work’, which was reflected in the signing in 2014 of a Memorandum of Understanding between the OFPPT and the ILO to raise awareness of the entrepreneurial spirit among young people . spirit and initiative in vocational training institutions. It also enabled the training and certification of trainers and managers of OFPPT entrepreneurship support desks in the field of entrepreneurship and financial education.

Additionally, the CLE “Entrepreneurship Training” program was launched in 2008 with funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), enabling the training of 66,729 trainees, in addition to the training of 606 trainers.
