against Caen in the quarter-finals, Tours MB moves up a notch

MB Towers
Caen

One step after another, towards this coveted ambition of moving up to Pro B. But still so far away. By eliminating Pont-de-Chéruy in the round of 16 of the play-offs last Friday, Tours MB took a first step towards their ultimate goal. But what awaits him now, in the quarter-final against Caen, promises to be even more dangerous.

We would almost dare to say that this series between the two clubs could have had the feel of a final. So the battle that threatens to reach the semi-finals promises to be intense, tough, where only the truth on the ground will count, beyond any prediction.

“It’s another playoff duel and that sums it upasks Cédric Heitz, the Touraine coach. There are no rules, indecisiveness is at its peak and every match will be unique. We must really, possession after possession, be the team that most wants to be able to play as well as possible, both in attack and defence. »

One everywhere, ball in the middle

In this case, for the moment, there is a perfect similarity: in the second phase, TMB and CBC knew how to get the best out of the other, at home. From then on, it’s hard to know who can make the difference, for good this time.

One thing is certain: for the Touraine club, who open the ball at Monconseil this Friday before joining Calvados for one, or even two games, winning in front of their home crowd will be crucial. “For me it’s not even home advantage, pressure to add or anything else. There is only one game this Friday and we have to concentrate on it.says the TMB coach. I don’t see much anymore at the moment. It is certain that the result will have weight for the future. But again, there are no rules. A lot can happen, so it’s up to us to move forward step by step (step by step). »

Maintain the same intensity

A philosophy which, since the start of the playoffs, seems to positively animate TMB. Like this combative, determined attitude, which Tourangeaux is now able to use from the start to take the matches in the right direction. – The last two games showed our ability to invest from the start in the intensity that is necessary for the play-offsconfirms the technician. We must continue to be in this, while adversity becomes more and more important as we come to the end. We will therefore try to be at our maximum every time to be able to prevent the opponent. »

Preventing Caen – Le Havre’s winner in three games – will not be an easy task, however, as the Touraine coach knows well. “We have to impose our physics especially, because we know that this team makes a lot of mistakes, increases the number of contacts and when it does not whistle, it becomes very complicated. You have to be strong, stay focused and don’t waste energy complaining. This will also require good execution, despite resilient defensive pressure. »

Bolstered by the return of their co-captain Pierre-Étienne Drouault, Tours MB in any case fully intends to fight with body and soul to reach this new stage. And maintain hope.

Friday 10 May at 8 p.m., Monconseil hall.
