Cycling. David Boutville talks about his experience at the Critérium du Mans

This new circuit promised a great show and the crowd was not disappointed. With a 2.2km lap, a false flat finish under the Jacobins Bridge and many restarts, no deadline was given to the 70 entries. The sunny weather at the end of the day meant that around fifteen runners took part on the spot, and there was a good peloton that started at 6pm on rue Wilbur-Wright.

It was after only 3 laps that four riders broke free and formed the good breakaway. David Boutville and Paul Cocault (Sablé Sarthe Cyclisme PDL), Cyprien Gilles (ES Torigni) and Evan Pavis (Cre’acteur – Marie Morin – U22) do the whole race at the front and want a lead of more than 1’30. Paul Cocault leaves the group a little before the halfway point.

A final swing attack

In the background, countless attempts are made to seek them out. Among this a count of 4 riders, with Noé Cramette (Paris Cycliste Olympique), Thomas Touchard (Le Breil Cycling Team), Romain Mancel (US St Herblain) and Arthur Nicolas (Cre’acteur – Marie Morin – U22). They are around a minute behind and do not see the 4 leaders again. At the bell, Boutville tries everything and attacks the finish line, quickly followed by Gilles. “The aim was to be at the front and see how the race progressed, says the winner, licensed by SSC PDL. Cyprien and I don’t live too far from each other. The goal was for one of us to raise our arms. »

David Boutville will bring experience to carry and win ahead of Cyprien Gilles. Evan Paris completes the podium. Sabolien signs his second success of the season after Parigné l’évêque. His program? “I will race in Brittany on Sunday in another criterium and the next goal is the Coupe de France DN2 in time.”
