Lyon writer and television journalist Bernard Beaujolais, who died on Monday 6 May 2024 at the age of 89, will be buried in the family vault in Quincié-en-Beaujolais (Rhône), near Lyon, where he spent his childhood.

Bernard Pivot’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in the village of Beaujolais. Religious ceremonies will be held at It’s 2:30 pm in the city church The host and former president of the Goncourt Academy owned a family home before separating from it in 2023.

He will be buried in the Quincié-en-Beaujolais municipal cemetery with his parents.

Very associated with the village of Quincié-en-Beaujolais

Bernard Pivot was very attached to this village of 1,300 inhabitants located north of Lyon.

In 1940, when he was five years old, he lived in the family home in Quincy where he sought refuge with his mother and brother while his father was captured as a prisoner of war in Germany. He attended the village school, finally returning to Lyon in 1945.

The host of Apostropes and Bouillon de Culture returns several times a year to the family home, bordered by vineyards – Bernard Pivot was a great lover of wine – to spend his holidays or Christmas and end-of-year celebrations there.

The city’s media library bears his name. The former lieutenant colonel was also elected as a member of the Municipal Council from 1977 to 1983.
