Paris 2024 Olympics: table tennis players Alexis Lebrun and Jianan Yuan selected for the mixed doubles event

We will have to wait to discover the line-up of singles events, but two French table tennis players are already guaranteed their presence at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. They are Alexis Lebrun and Jianan Yuan, aged 20 and 38 respectively. the mixed doubles event.

The selection was made official by the International Table Tennis Federation on Tuesday 7 May. As the host country, France had a quota for this event and it was the top-ranked pair who therefore logically inherited it.

Together, the oldest of the Lebrun Brothers and the table tennis player with a license in Poitiers have just reached the semifinals of the Grand Smash (equivalent to a Grand Slam tournament in tennis) from Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Together with his younger brother Félix, Alexis Lebrun also qualified for the semi-finals in men’s doubles, which will take place on Thursday 9 May from 3 p.m. Félix Lebrun continues his individual journey, qualifying for the singles quarter-finals of the Saudi tournament, which will take place at 3pm this Thursday.

In 2021 during the Tokyo Olympics, Jianan Yuan had already participated in mixed doubles, this time with Emmanuel Lebesson. The two Frenchmen finished fourth in this Olympic tournament, very close to a bronze medal.
