VIDEOS – Paris 2024 Olympics: follow the route of the Olympic torch relay in Marseille

After one arrival with fanfare on French soil On Wednesday, the Olympic flame begins its relay in Marseille on Thursday 9 May. This first phase is exceptional: the flame will not travel through a department, but through a city. And what a city: Marseille, which on Wednesday welcomed the Olympic symbol aboard Belem during an exceptional day of celebration.

Basile Boli, first porter

Some 189 torch bearers change in the city all day: Basile Boli, OM legend, author of the winning goal in the 1993 Champions League, was the first at the basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, succeeded by Colette Cataldo, 88 years old, founder of the Dodgers supporters club.

Didier Drogba, last carrier

Soprano will take the flame to the roof of the Vélodrome at the end of the day and former footballer Didier Drogba, who had already carried the torch at the London Olympics, will light the pot of this first leg of the relay in Marseille.

14:10 – 14:30: Font Obscure Park (14th)

Two loops in the park between 14.10 and 14.30.

11:40 – 13:15: Pharo Palace – International City

In the direction of Arenc via the old port, the Olympic flame passed in front of the town hall, Boulevard Jacques Saadé and Quai du Lazaret. A race of 6.3 km.

11:10 – 11:20: “Marseille” letters (15th)

A 500 meter long route around the letters from 11:10 to 11:20.

09:20 – 11:00: Borély Park – Pharo Palace

The relay left from the Corniche Kennedy to cover 6.25 km to the Palais du Pharo.

08:20 – 09:05: Notre-Dame de la Garde – Place Estrangin

The flame headed for Place Estrangin via Boulevard Vauban and Rue Breteuil. She arrived at the finish line after 2.2 km of running.

  • 8:20 – 9:05: Notre-Dame de la Garde – Place Estrangin;
  • 9:20 – 11:00: Borély Park – Pharo Palace;
  • 11:10 – 11:20: “Marseille” letters (15th);
  • 11:40 – 13:15: Pharo Palace – International City;
  • 14:10 – 14:30: Font Obscure park (14th);
  • 15:30 – 16:20: Dôme – Palais Longchamp (4th);
