Kombouaré regrets for PSG

The coach of FC Nantes, Antoine Kombouaré, returned this Friday to the eliminations of Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille on the European stage. He believes there was room to go to the final for the Parisians, but not for the Marseillais.

Former Paris Saint-Germain coach Antoine Koumbouaré watched the Champions League semi-final back between Paris and Dortmund with a keen eye. “PSG were motivated to win,” he said. “Then you have an opponent in front of you, they don’t come to tap dance, they come to do their job and they are also motivated, or sometimes even more so.”

But the current Nantes coach did not hide his frustration at seeing PSG finally eliminated. “I’m disappointed because I support all the French clubs in the European Cup,” he explained. “And disappointed because I think that for PSG it was the place. I liked the formula of Luis Enrique who said that you have to know how to lose. Dortmund also had two great games. It is not undeserved to see Dortmund reach the final.”

“PSG did the right thing”

According to Kombouaré, Paris played the game it needed to try to reach the Champions League final. “PSG did the right thing,” he assured. “They hit 30 times. We talked about the six posts…” On the other hand, the Nantes coach admits to having had less hope for Marseillais, Thursday night in the Europa League against Atalanta.

“For Marseille, on the other hand, it was complicated,” he concluded “When you come out of the game, you tell yourself that Atalanta are too strong.” OM did not succeed in creating any illusions after the first match’s draw (1-1) and lost hard 3-0.
