MJCC is committed to media excellence in sports

The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communications has embraced a number of major projects, part of an ambition to support the Kingdom in the preparation and realization of future world sporting events. Details.

Ministry of Communications, aware of the crucial impact of sports media, has taken decisive steps to support the coverage and promotion of the world-renowned sporting events that Morocco is preparing to host. Among these events, hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal, as well as hosting the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, top the list.

As part of this approach, Mehdi Bensaid’s department launched a number of strategic projects, highlighted in a response to a written question sent by Driss Sentissi, leader of the People’s Movement (MP) parliamentary group in the House of Representatives. . Special attention has been paid to improving the quality of television broadcasts in sports, in order to raise the media standard of these international events.

With this in mind, the ministry endeavors to provide the National Radio and Television Corporation (SNRT) with the necessary means to fully fulfill its obligations regarding the live broadcasting of national and international sports competitions and events. To this end, he revised the company’s specifications so that it could modernize its television broadcasting capabilities.

This approach notably resulted in the establishment of four national sports-themed channels, in addition to the main sports channel, thus guaranteeing exhaustive coverage of sporting events through satellite television broadcasting and other advanced technologies.

In addition, the ministry recalled the organization of the first National Sports Journalism Forum, which was held on December 9, 2023 at the Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC). This forum, organized in collaboration with the institute, the National Press Council (CNP), the Moroccan Sports Press Association (AMPS) and the Moroccan League of Sports Journalists (LMJS), had the theme “The challenges of national sports journalism by 2030”, providing a platform for exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences between professionals national and international sports media, which highlights the importance of the sports journalist’s role in promoting and presenting the Kingdom’s qualifications and dynamism at international level.

However, Mehdi Bensaid’s department has signed a partnership agreement on 10 January 2024 with the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the National Association of Media and Publishers (ANME), with the aim of setting up a coordinated program between signatories to organize media coverage national and international sporting events and competitions, and to guarantee professional coverage of these sporting events by the national press.
