Who is Salim Berrada, the “Tinder Rapist” from Casablanca whose trial is raging in Paris

With 300 convictions and 17 rape charges, Salim Berrada aka “Tinder Rapist” is now facing French justice during a heated trial in Paris. On the eighth day of the trial, the native of Casablanca had one last chance to explain himself, rejecting all the charges against him.

After “Tinder scammer”, here is a darker version, “Tinder rapist”, in relation to the famous dating app that he uses every day. If he didn’t have the rights to his Netflix series (at least not yet), Salim Berrada is now responding to allegations after 17 reports were filed against him for rape and sexual assault.

Salim Berrada, 38, is on trial in Paris from March 26, 2024, for raping and cheating on 27 young women he met on Tinder.

A photographer from Paris, the Moroccan man allegedly used his camera to lure his alleged victims, posing as an experienced photographer. He offered his alleged victims a photo shoot at his home in Paris, where he persistently offered them a glass of alcohol. Some women claim that they were drugged.

Indeed, according to the trial, he used a well-established operation and also drugged his victims with MDMA. Despite his denials, evidence and testimony against him is piling up, revealing a narcissistic profile and addiction to seduction.

“How do you consent when you’re drugged? »asked Martine Moscovici, the lawyer of several complainants, who assures that none of the victims wanted to have sexual relations with him.

Salim Berrada denies the facts of which he is accused and claims that all his relationships were consensual. “I’m trying to understand what led me to appear before you, to answer 17 charges, when nothing in my life would suggest that,” the accused stated, before adding:

“There are people here whose misfortune I am convinced, that they believe that I am a rapist, that I drugged them. Others lie, I know it, I am convinced of it. But they really think they’re telling the truth and serving a cause that’s noble and worth lying to.”. According to him, the trial “focused on things that seemed far from reality.”

This trial of the infamous Salim Berrada is expected to last two weeks. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
