Yoshua Bengio named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world

Prestigious American magazine Time named Yoshua Bengio, professor of computer science and operational research at the University of Montreal, founder and scientific director of Mila – the Quebec Institute of Artificial Intelligence, among the 100 most influential people in the world, a list of which is established every year.

“I am glad that I was included in this list. In my opinion, this is good evidence that my outreach efforts over the past year are bearing fruit and that the public, governments and media are increasingly understanding the importance of urgently regulating the development and implementation of advanced artificial intelligence systems. This awareness-raising work is important because these powerful systems already have a major impact on our lives and our society, a trend that is likely to accelerate significantly in the coming years and decades,” the professor said.

To mark the occasion, Yoshua Bengio will travel to New York to attend the TIME100 Summit on April 24 and the TIME100 Gala the following day.
