Iran: EU strengthens sanctions after attack on Israel

At a summit in Brussels, the European Union decided on Wednesday evening to increase its sanctions against Iran, following Tehran’s unprecedented attack on Israel.

The decision is intended to send a “clear signal” to Iran, according to Charles Michel, president of the European Council.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for increased support in the face of a Russian invasion, specifically calling for additional air defenses, including Patriot missile systems.

European leaders have assured their commitment to quickly respond to this request.

In addition to these security issues, the summit also plans to discuss ways to strengthen EU competitiveness and improve the single market.
