The High Commission for Planning (HCP) and Statistics Denmark (SD), the central authority for Danish statistics, signed a cooperation declaration in Rabat on Thursday aimed at promoting the sharing of experiences in the field of data collection and statistical processing.
Signed by the Director General of Statistics and National Accounts of the HCP, Jamal Azizi, and the Director General of Economic Studies at SD, Kirsten Balling, in the presence of the High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, and the Ambassador of Denmark Morocco, Jesper Kammersgaard, this statement is part of the second phase of the partnership project between the HCP and SD for 2024-2027.

The first phase of cooperation between the HCP and the SD turned out to be a real success, Mr. Lahlimi said in a statement to MAP, noting that this cooperation was not limited to a one-sided exchange. “The contribution of new technologies or new knowledge is only considered useful if the recipient country itself is in full transformation,” he said, adding that this cooperation with the SD is now entering a new phase that will extend to other public or semi -religious countries. public partners.

Mr. Lahlimi also emphasized the role of SD as a key partner, believing that this cooperation is a model for knowledge transfer between developed and developing countries, illustrating the practical importance of such cooperation for the concrete transformation of national statistical systems.

Regarding the content of the cooperation, the High Commissioner for Planning mentioned progress in the establishment of a data management center that is now operational and centralizes all statistical activities in Morocco. For his part, Mr. Kammersgaard explained that this second phase has served as a model for expanding twinning to other areas, especially in the water and energy sectors, recommending that the next phase focus on digitalization, a area where SD has a lot to offer. thanks to its advanced experience in the digitalization of the public and private sectors.

To produce reliable statistics, it is essential to have an advanced IT infrastructure, Kammersgaard advised, adding that censuses in Denmark are now conducted exclusively through administrative registers, a method that is proving to be very economical for data collection.
Ms. Balling emphasized the importance of international cooperation in statistics and economic modeling in particular, saying this is an area where countries can learn from each other and benefit from each other’s experiences.
