Under the colors of the ENE team, Escrime Normandie Excellence and together with Caennais Vallier Rousseau and Maxence Lemoisson, the Lexovians Nathan Fougy and Alexandre Motte validated this weekend Saturday 20 April and Sunday 21 April 2024 in Colmar (Alsace) their maintenance in the National team competition, the French epiee elite.

The biggest victory in its history in the French championship

After a first experience in the national elite in 2017-2018 that ended with an equally quick descent to Nationale 2, the boys of Epée Normandie Excellence did not miss the return this time. The authors of a convincing first day in Fontaine (Isère) in mid-January 2024, Team ENE therefore finished the job on Sunday 21 April 2024 in Alsace.

The quartet quickly put themselves out of danger by winning their first play-down game against Colmar (45-27), and in the process signed the biggest victory in the history of the French championship. Thanks to this success in being in the first 12 in the final ranking, there was not much left for the Normans to seek better access.

“There is a satisfactory result with the maintenance in N1. Whether on the first day at Fontaine or today during the final phase, the team managed to win important matches to maintain themselves. It is a historic first to remain in N1, both for girls and boys. This shows that we are able to remain in the elite for several seasons in a row. Our result opens the door to a second team in Nationale 2, and that bodes well for the future.”

Maintained in N1 among girls and boys, Team ENE can calmly approach the final deadline for its senior group: the French championship N2 and N3 in Castelnau-le-Lez (34) on June 1 and 2. A medal for the 2 men’s team in Nationale 3 and a move to Nationale 2 next year could reinforce their great season.
