ICANN and ANRT organize the 10th edition of the Middle East DNS Forum

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) are working closely together as part of the Middle East Domain System Forum 2024 (ME-DNS Forum 2024), which is commemorating its tenth anniversary. This major event, scheduled for April 24 and 25 in Rabat, will bring together national and international experts to examine the evolution of the region’s DNS landscape over the past decade.

The opening ceremony will feature key guests, including ICANN Acting President and CEO Sally Costerton, who will deliver the keynote address. She will be accompanied by Az-El-Arabe Hassibi, Director General of Morocco’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and by Baher Esmat, Vice President of ICANN, responsible for Stakeholder Relations in the Middle East and General Manager for the Middle East and Africa. who will give keynote speeches.

With the theme ‘Celebrating Progress in the DNS Sector in the Middle East’, the 2024 edition of the Middle East DNS Forum will examine the evolution of the digital landscape over the past decade and discuss strategies and innovations that will shape the future will stimulate growth and sustainability of the sector.

Participants will discover the progress that Morocco has made in the digital sector and more specifically in the management of the .ma geographic top-level domain (ccTLD), and will have the opportunity to understand its universal adoption and its role in enabling multilingual discuss access to the Internet. To celebrate a decade of great debates, the Forum will host a panel discussion highlighting the Forum’s transformative influence on the regional domain name industry. Leading ccTLDs will share their experiences and perspectives, providing enriching perspectives.

Participants will be able to appreciate the power of artificial intelligence in domain name searches and gain insight into the dynamic nature of ccTLD markets. Strategies for strengthening Internet security and reliability will be presented in sessions focused on operational best practices and DNS security enhancements. Critical topics such as cybersecurity frameworks, DNS abuse, intellectual property rights and the next round of new generic top-level domains will also be covered, allowing participants to discover important perspectives on protecting the digital space.

Sponsored by key stakeholders such as the Public Interest Registry, AEserver, Genious Communications and the Moroccan Chapter of the Internet Society, MEDNSF 2024 promises to be an essential platform for exchange and reflection for all stakeholders involved in domain name management and Internet governance in the Central -East. East.

As a reminder, and in accordance with Law No. 24-96, the ANRT is responsible for assigning the domain names “.ma” and “.المغرب”, defining the conditions of their administrative, technical and commercial management and represents the holders of these addresses with international governmental or non-governmental bodies responsible for the international management of Internet domain names.
